Kirk is a guy you know
by: Kirk on January 30, 2010, 11:04 am

I thought I would update you all too. I just got done with my daily hour or more run. This week I did 59 miles, my personal best. I plan on running in the Lincoln half-marathon. My interest in running has come as a solution to the clash between my desire to eat a lot of food and my desire to live as long as I can. It has turned out to be a very good solution.

Jupiter keeps me very busy. He is starting to brave the world as a walker and soon I will have trouble keeping up with him (which provides further motivation to be in shape). He is starting to toddle, and will soon be a proficient toddler.

I am about 1/3 of the way through my bachelors program at WGU which I started about a year ago.

We are getting close to the point where we can list our house and then perhaps move. Chris is working on getting her licence transfered to Missouri, which is apparently quite a drawn out process. The biggest hurdle is the law test she has to take. Pharmaceutical law varies quite a bit from state to state.

I sold my truck to Chris's dad and brother because they needed a reliable second vehicle, and we find that the truck isn't a very family oriented vehicle. We replaced the Ranger with a Highlander. We like it very much.

Not much else to say right now. Oh except one thing, which maybe quite insignificant, but since Flip like to dispute that, I will let you be the judge. I need to do a number 2.

Kirk out.

Tubes unclogged...
by: Derek on January 27, 2010, 2:13 pm

ManBearPig was clogging the tubes, I took care of him and my tubes are fine now.

Anyway, I'll follow the trend. I have a weekly routine which is followed by random weekends to various place. Last weekend I went to Columbia MO (a.k.a. America's armpit) for a basketball game. A couple weekends before that I went to some football game in Denver. Some team that never wins actually won that game.

I'm taking graduate classes now. Basically I knew if I stopped taking classes I would never start again so I figured why not. So far they are not too tough.

On Tuesday's I go to pint night on Old Chicago and Thursday's I go to BW3's for boneless night and to hang out with some friends. If any family in the Lincoln area ever wants to hang out those would be the nights cause I usually don't do much else.

I also moved, my new address is:

5500 Warwick Ct Apt 13
Lincoln, NE 68516

Same complex, only it is a one-bedroom apartment with a better view and a balcony. I use my mini grill out on my patio frequently. My neighbors definitely think I'm odd but nothing beats a good brat fresh of the grill.

Welp, I suppose I should get back to work now.

no news
by: jonnybones on January 26, 2010, 5:22 pm

Hey family. I hope all is well with everyone. There is really nothing to report here, besides plans. Nothing has been happening this month besides cursing at the weather. Work is slow.

I'm headin back to school this fall, this time i'm not stopping until i have a degree in hand. I don't care what it takes... I'm gonna be paying off loans anyway I might as well have something to show for it. I'm gonna go after an International Studies degree... which is basically a geography degree, but a lot more broad and potentially useful if I don't want to teach or work for the government.

Music stuff is going good. I'm heading to Austin with my pal Ringo in March for a few days. He'll be recording songs for his band's album and I will be doing some guest vocals and guest mandolin a couple of tracks. Should be fun. My band is playing tomorrow night in Lincoln, and we have a few more shows tentatively lined up for the next few months. Maybe this summer we'll be able to get a two week midwest tour lined up. That's the hope. We recorded in November and should have some CDs out in the next couple of months.

Ringo lives in Ames, Iowa with his wife. They live near a river so when it gets warm out we're planning a nice long, relaxing, drunken canoe trip. When it gets warm, if it ever happens...

Our lease is up in March, and we're all probably going to go separate ways. My hope is to find a little tiny one bedroom house near downtown here in Lincoln. Somewhere where I can get a nice dog and have some garden space.

Anyways, like I said, thats not really news, just stuff that might happen if I survive the winter. Its been brutal. I can feel myself aging every day.

Take care all. Uncle Chris, behave yourself ok?

accident
by: Flip on January 25, 2010, 11:05 pm

About an hour ago there was an accident on 18th Avenue and the tracks. A pedestrian was killed. That is all I know at this time. They just called Gass Haney to get the body.

My Turn
by: IH8JHOX on January 25, 2010, 3:13 pm

OK, I'm not one of the kids G-Ma wants to hear from & what they're doin' but since I'm logged in, here's my take...
I don't run. Not before doing anything or after anything, unless perhaps if someone has a weapon aimed at me--and not to stay fit or prepare for a 1/2 candybar. (there used to be a candybar named "Marathon" for you real younguns..ed) I usually think about peanut butter. Sometimes I consider ideas for cutting edge antennas that haven't been tried yet.

I wonder if dog owners feel wierd when they are out with Fido for the early-morning stroll with the leash in one hand & a steamy bag of Fido Doo in the other. Does it help them stay warm? Why can't people do that...just jump behind a tree & fill the bag & carry it around...

I'm not moving. I can't tell you how much I hate winters here but there's no place like home. If the thought ever crossed my mind, I'd be heading to a desert or something warm, but I'm not going anywhere. As far as the big cities go, you can have them crazy people. Guess I'll never get used to a twinkle-toes (guy that acts, talks walks like a woman) & his "partner" (guy that seems to be a guy but appearently really isn't) stolling-(dancing & prancing)into an eatery with all that flamming show & expect everyone to accept who they are without losing their lunch right there. No thanks...
